A little Bit of Britian

This is my latest project. A little blue chair I picked up at a Church Rummage sale in Oklahoma City, Ok. in August. It is a sturdy solid wood chair a little ruff around the edges but I fell in love. I ha to have it for my Grandchildren. Didn't know what I as going to do with it except paint it. So it sett for awhile until one day while mulling it over I came up with this idea. We are in the process of remodeling my husbands  Man Cave, What a perfect idea decorate the chair to fit into his Cave. Up until a little over  month ago we had all boy grand kids so it was perfect put them all together in one place Granddads room.  (LOL).  Any way this idea stuck since we are redoing his room into the 50's era with a British patriotic theme, why not paint a union jack on the chair
and leave it a little ruff around the edges.. I think its adorable. If you see this let me know what you think.

A Few of My Recent Projects

I know it's been awhile, but during this time I have not sat idle. I have been sewing up a storm and if you were to look out my window you could see it coming. Literally we are awaiting a rain storm the sky is very gray and its windy. Seriously now, in Nov. I became the proud Momo to a beautiful granddaughter, she is so small. After 4 boys we now have our Princess. So this Momo has been making baby gowns, dedication dress and other baby items. I'm even trying to learn to crochet to make baby booties. I hosted a baby shower, and many more things in between.  I will see if I can find pictures of the things I have done and post them. I couldn't find many pictures so here's a few.
Three tiered Burlap Table Cloth

 Ruffled Dedication Gown

Contact Lenses

Yesterday I picked up my new contact lenses. Now you have to know it has been over 15 year since I have worn contacts. I thought it would be a breeze to just step right back into them, but no way. I love the feel of not having the heavy frames sitting on my face but i am having difficulty adjusting. Don't get me wrong, I can see very well at a distance but anything any closer than my waist up is distorted or so blurry I cant stand it. Also everything seems over magnified. My eyes have a lot of adjusting to do or when I go back for a check up they are going to have to change the prescription. Wow this is a weird world I'm in right now.

The week after Valentines Day

I said I would post after Valentine to let you know if my plan was successful. Well it wasn't but that is ok,
Thursday the 14th my husband decided to stay home from work because he was sick. So he was in bed all day. then Friday I had to go to my sons and watch my grandson. So in all it wasn't a romantic day but at least my husband is feeling better but he decided to pass it on to me now I am the one laying in bed shivering.
Will write more later.

It's The Month of LOVE

Are you ready? Have you an idea? A Plan?
Secrets are aplenty this month, do you have one?
The planning goes into overdrive trying to deliver a message of LOVE that has not been used before. A special dinner, a handcrafted card, a delivery of Roses, a special box of Chocolates. What is your surprise secret?
I have one that I hope I can deliver but not sure so will let you know when Valentines Day is come and gone. so if you really read my blog you will find out I promise the week after this special day.
I also have 2 more special days coming  in this month.  the first is my son's birthday on the 20th and then on the 22nd I will have the privilege to step into a new year.  Everyone says January 1st of any given year is the first day of the year but for me I measure my years by the date I was born. You see I didn't know anything about the month of January in the year 1956 or even the 21 days of February were nothing to me.Until I saw the light of my first day February 22, 1956. so your year may start January 1st but mine starts in 14 days.
Happy Birthday to me!

I haven't been very busy crafty wise of late I did make my Daughter n Law some kitchen curtains they turned out cute. they were country from flour sack fabric and calico. she only wanted the cafe curtain. so here's a pic.

Hope you have a wonderful Valentines day.

The End of a Long Month

Has The Month of January seemed to have lasted a long time, or is it just me?
I k now I will be complaining when December rolls around say wow, where did the year go but I was just telling my husband it seems as if January is never going to come to an end. I guess I should be rejoicing I get to remain 56 a little longer.
We are approximately 3 weeks away from Valentines day and I have to get some baking done. I made some cute little marshmallow pops last night and sent them to work with my husband to sell hope everyone likes them.
Today is cleaning day so that my house will be clean and relaxing for the weekend.
Here is a pic of my latest endeavor in the kitchen

Weekend Wonders

My weekend started Friday at 5 am, as I climbed out of bed to prepare myself for a day with Noah.
You ask who is Noah, That's not your husbands name. No, but he carries my husbands middle name. Noah is my grandson. Yes, I spent the day with him and his mommy and we had a blast shopping, playing, eating and more then the evening we were able to spent some quality time with granddad and daddy. So my weekend started with a wonderful day of love and family. Then Saturday was a day spent with the love of my life grocery shopping. I love just doing simple things with my man. I received a phone call from another little man that I love, Nathaniel, who was wanting grandma to jump on a plane and come see him. ( Oh I wish I could ).
And then on to Sunday What a wondrous time we had the church was jumping with the electricity of Jesus. I love feeling his presence. there is nothing in the world to bring you to full peace.

I love these guys!

and the girl in the back ground.

Where Have You Been?

.Wow how time flies, I was just trolling the net today and realized I had not been to my blog for quite a while. So here I am. trying to recall the last 4 and 1/2 months.. My last post was about my precious Princess winning the best costume. A lot has happened since then and I'm sure I can't remember everything that has been achieved since that date. I do know I've had an anniversary 36 yrs and then there was Thanksgiving and Christmas both which were small Paul, Sherry and Noah spent time with us and of course I enjoy every minute I get to spend with them. Yet I miss the time I don't get to spend with Natassja and her family. Life has thrown me some curve balls in my 56 yrs but the last one has been the hardest.  I am not a fan of baseball so if I get some of the terms wrong please forgive me. But the Curve ball that was sent my way 8 yrs ago almost put me out of the game. You wonder why things come your way?  I am still wondering. In those yrs so many things came flying at me that I didn't have time to duck and cover and was totally devastated.  I Have tried hard to hold it together and not let anyone know how I feel but I am sure at times it showed through. At one time I had dreams  and anticipation but that was a long time ago. Now it is wishes and hopes and those are very scares. One of my dreams was to be a close knit family and my children live close enough that I could see them and my grandchildren  regularly and be able to play and enjoy the grand babies to see each of their little milestones. But that isn't for me other people get to enjoy my grandma moments. Every other place that I have lived whether here or abroad I have been blessed with wonderful and close friends.but here I have none. No one I can talk to, cry with or go someplace with.. I sit day after day with me myself and I wishing. It is lonely and then on top of all that this year something happened that I really didn't know what had slapped me. I can't put it down here it was just to personal I am still reeling it is so fresh.
I am trying to make this year a different year hopefully I will get some courage to step out and start making myself be happy. I only have me right now. I need to get up and get out and do something before I die.
I am going to be 57 here real soon and I feel like the last 8 years are one big blur and that they have been wasted. Prayerfully with the help of God I can see this year as a turning point.
Oops didn't mean to write all this but I know no one ever reads my blog so it didn't hurt to relieve my sorry self and try and get some peace. Trying to look up.

Saturday's Surprise

Saturday August 4th the little town I live in sponsored the Dog Days of Summer Event with Contest and a parade and as you I'm sure guessed it was all about dogs. So I entered my little girl in it. This event was held to raise money for the downtown renovations a worthy cause.

As I said I entered my little girl Princess Snowball in 2 of the contest, Cutest Dog and Cutest Costume. I am so please to say she won 1st place in cutest costume. Now being her mommy I think she should have won both but Cutest Dog went to Lord Byron so at least Royalty still reigns.

Believing Receiving

These last two weeks were stressful. but had to keep the old chin up so that everyone would stay calm. My Husband was told at his yearly physical that the EKG and stress test showed he had a problem in his heart. We were worried but we tried to hand it to the Lord.  Much prayer was going up. Today David had to go to the hospital for a heart cath where they shoot a dye into the heart to look for blockages. Even the Doctor was amazed that there was nothing there that his heart was normal. At home now resting and recooping. I'm now having a hard time keeping him still. Its hard to keep an old dog down.
I Love this Man!

Totally Flumbuzzled

I have no idea how these other girls can stay on top of their blogs. As you can see I don't make it here very often. It's not like my life is not busy, it is. I always have my hand in something.

As you know one of my projects is the rermodeling/repurposing of my husbands old office actually our small middle bedroom room, my new sewing - crafting - computer surfing - office room ( by the way I need a name for this hideaway). My hubby now has his man cave which he really needs he has much more junk, oops I mean treasures than I one corner of his cave is his office the other corner is his model train play station one corner is the video area and the last corner has to be used for my vitrine, (china cabinet). So his room is full, just as mine is. Hopefully I will be finished here soon and be able to post my pictures but until then.

Stay tuned I will try to remember to write here on my blog soon.

.
Until then I posted a few random Pictures
                                           to keep you busy.

                                         HAPPY SATURDAY

Wow, can we stop and get off?

What a busy last few days. My Daughter and Grandson came for a visit, they were to arrive around 7:05pm July 7th but there was a major delay in Dallas. They didn't arrive in Tulsa until 3:00am exhausted, no completely creamed. But Nathaniel was ready to see Grandma.
The rest of the week was a whirlwind of fun and treasured memories. I had a blast he played in grandmas back yard, we celebrated granddads 60th birthday, went to great Grandpa's (grandpa okie) house ate lasagna that Nana okie made, played with the dogs rode on the mule and sat on sunshine the horse with the cameras flashing away. Then on Thursday we headed back to Tulsa to spend the remainder of their visit with Aunt Sherry and Uncle Paul. We went to the Aquarium and Incredible Pizza, where we ate and played games. then on July 14th my precious California kids went home, no delays this time.

will post more pics later.

Feedback on my Homemade Products

I said I would give a report on my homemade products. So here is a report, I am finding that the soap works very well, I am still tweaking the amount to use to see how much is really necessary to get a clean wash. The soap doesn't have any fragrance, I am looking for a place to buy inexpensive essential oils to add to the soap  so that my clothes would smell nice after laundering.  I also made other products that I will be posting about soon.

Homemade Laundry Soap

Ok, lets add a kick to this blog.  Today we're going to talk about something exciting, Laundry. Yes, I said Laundry, don't you get just a little excited knowing you have a bushel of dirty clothes that need washed and you have no laundry detergent?
Well I decided to do something about it and do some experimenting with making my own Laundry soap. I have decided to become green. No silly, not me physically but my environment. So here below is pictures of my endeavor.

The final product will be a liquid like gel substance.
If you want to add fragrance 1/4 to 1/2 oz of your favorite essential oil when you add the soap mixture to water in bucket.

This recipe will make approximately one gallon of Laundry Detergent.  32 loads
Use up to a 1/2 cup of Homemade Laundry Detergent to each load of wash.

Time to make: 15 min
Time to set 24 hrs

If I have not mentioned in the past my husband David is the pastor of a small church in Oklahoma.
The congregation is small and the building is in need of a lot of work so we have to raise money to upkeep and remodel and it is going very slowly. Here are a few pics of some recent work.

Did Someone say DiEt

Ugh! I read a saying just recently ""Every time I say diet I wash my mouth out with Chocolate." I don't really but I would like to.
I have started another journey this last week, I am trying to lose weight to gain control of my health. The Doctor told me If I was to lose weight I would be able to be completely medicine free. I am praying to lose at least 10 lbs by the time I have to see her again in Sept. I know it's going to be a long bumpy road that I will be travelling but what journey doesn't have it's pot holes and little ups and downs, maybe even a few flat tires. but we just keep on truck'in.

Traveling and Going Nowhere

This past weekend was a little hectic as On Sunday I traveled 200 miles to go to Church. Traveled thru 3 states yet ended up at our church in Jay which is only 35 miles from our home.
Traveled approx. 100 miles on Monday to from my Dr. appointment. So I traveled and really didn't go any where. For the amount of driving I did in these last 2 days I cold have gone some where on holiday.

Life's Little Bumps

Monday April 30 my dad started having pain in his stomach and continued into Tuesday when Marilyn my Step mother took him to the Dr. in Tahlequah and they told him he was having a heart attack. they then rushed him on to Tulsa by ambulance to St. Francis Hospital where they had to replace the two stents in his heart  They were totally blocked again and had a 4 mil long blood clot they had to remove. Later we found out that it had damaged 15% of his heart that the attack had been a severe one. I am thankful that the Lord guided the surgeons hand and now dad is back home recovering. One year ago this month my mom was having heart problems from her diabetes and on June 9th at around 2pm passed away. The bumps in the road can be big or small but with my Jesus he can help me get over them.
It has made me think about my health and how I really need to take control of my issues and get my life back.
