Day of Preparation

Today is a day of Preparation. tomorrow I am going to be spending the whole day with my two month old grandson While his Mommy and Daddy go to a Sunday school workshop. Yeah for me! But I do have to prepare my home for the day away since my husband David will be here at home. You see he is spoiled I have to have food ready so he won't starve and other homey things done so he can survive the day without me. So, I can't stay here to long and not get my work done. I am also preparing my craft box and getting my sewing machine all packed so that I can entertain myself while Noah sleeps. Of course when he's awake I will be playing and cuddling and taking pictures of him. Well I better stop right here and get busy.

I think I may be ready Just a few sweeps here and a dust there and to bathe my little princess she is going with me.

February 22nd 1956

On February 22nd, 1956 in Southern California a little girl was born. To Gloria Ann (18yrs) and Dexter Lane Gillum (19yrs). They didn't have much in life didn't own a car or a home and was lucky to have a job. They named her Atonda Sue she thrived and grew and as life passed she experienced many things. Her parents were able to improve their life and in the 60's started their own construction trucking business (Gillum's Trucking) and life for a few years was financially peaceful. At the age of 16 she asked her parents to send her to a private Bible School and they did. She enjoyed 2 years there before graduating at 18 yrs from High School, but while there she found the love of her life. She never attended college but she did finally after 2yrs of graduating High School  achieve her MRS. degree and married David James an Englishman she was 20yrs in 1976. From that point life really changed for her. Two yrs later at 22yrs She gave birth to her first child a beautiful little girl (Natassja Raylene) which was a precious joy. Four years later David transplanted her and Natassja to the West Midlands of England to a City called Wolverhampton where for one year we lived with his dad Fredrick James it was a real life change, learning the way of life and the language, yes I said language there is a great difference. Two years after moving to The United Kingdom at the age of 27yrs she gave birth to a bouncing baby boy (Paul James) a second precious joy, her family was complete. Life in England was difficult as the economy was slow and David couldn't keep a job so after five years the decision was made to return to California and start anew she was 31yrs, so once again we uprooted our family and returned. by this time David had become an ordained minister and he was approached by a pastor in California to assist him which he took the position. Atonda finally thought her days of moving was over but that was not to be. Three years later we moved to a small town not far from San Francisco to Pastor a small church. Awe, finally a lasting place of refuge? But once again after 14 years and at the age of 48  life changed again. David said it's time to move so here we are in Arkansas 1700 miles from my  Daughter and her family and 100 miles from my Son and his family. It gets very lonesome with David gone all day to work and then with all the time he must give to the church. Life is very different now that I'm an empty Nestor and so I am trying to learn new skills and become more self motivated. Today I have turned 56 that's not old I'm just a mid lifer with no crisis just a determination to make something of these years. Move over world Atonda Sue is coming Thru.

Below are the gifts I received.
I also received 3 beautiful cards one from my best friend in California, one from my Mother n law and one from my Son and his family

Thanking God for the Hands that Prepare my Meals.

How many times a day do you see your hands?

This morning while preparing my evening meal to go into the crock pot I saw my hands and the thought came to me, Thank you Lord for the hands that prepare my meals. Have you ever been sitting at the table waiting to eat and someone is asked to say grace? For me this is a daily occurrence because I do thank God for our  Daily meals. But most likely during this prayer the words (please bless the hands that have prepared this meal) is spoken. Yet have we ever said thank you God for my hands the ones that prepare mine and my families meals every day?  Well today I am thanking God for my Hands. Whether it's Stew (food), sewing, crafting, or just our daily chores Thank you God for my Hands.

Thank you Lord for the Hands that prepared this Stew.

Happy Valentines Day

It is a beautiful day the sky is a winter blue and the sun is shining as it sheds it's bright warm rays over us. Yet can it out shine the rays of Love floating in the air?  Every where you look there are hearts and roses, people scurrying to buy something to please their loved one. Today is the day to show the world who you love.

But, let me tell you a little story. My love story started 35 years ago and I am more in love today than I was the day I said I do. The man I married may have a few more lines on his face and his hair has thinned and gone white but he is more handsome now than then. (besides he never married a beauty queen and gravity, age and too many good dinners has taken it's toll) so back to my story. Last night when my sweetheart arrived home from work in his hands was a bouquet of 3 red roses and he said lets celebrate Valentine's day now because tomorrow is to faraway and the day is long because i would be at work all day. AWE!  He then handed me my roses a card and a  Milk Chocolate Cabury's  bar.  35 yrs is not long enough I want another 35.

I love you David through the thick and thin of this love match.

Where has the time gone?
It has been a while since I've written, 8 days to be exact. I have been keeping myself busy crocheting and sewing. Today I baked muffin sized cupcakes from scratch with a cream cheese filling to sell for a church fundraiser, my husband is taking them to work tomorrow.

They are Yummy!
